Accessibility Policy
Inspired Scholar observes the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act 2005, the first of its kind in Canada. Inspired Scholar is committed to providing an environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity, and provides all individuals the same opportunities to access our community and to participate in our services, regardless of their disability.
Assistive devices
Students, visitors, and members of the community with disabilities are welcome to use assistive devices to aid them in accessing our services or goods.
Communication
We will communicate with people with disabilities in ways that best take into account their disability. Inspired Scholar will do this to the best of it's ability within their given means and resources.
Service Animals
Service animals are allowed to enter premises with any person with a disability, except where animals are not allowed by law (for example, where food is being prepared). Where an animal is not allowed by law, alternative options may be explored to provide the service to the person with a disability. The animal must be under the care and control of the individual at all times. Where there is a risk to the health and safety of another person as a result of the presence of a service animal, consideration must be given to options available prior to the exclusion of a service animal. The use of a service animal will be permitted solely upon the presentation of a copy of the medical document from a psychiatrist or medical doctor. If there are other students in the class, they will be given two weeks' notice regarding the support animal.
Emotional support animals
Emotional support animals are allowed to enter premises with any person with a disability, except where animals are not allowed by law (for example, where food is being prepared). Where an animal is not allowed by law, alternative options will be explored to provide the service to the person with a disability. Support persons
A person with a disability who is accompanied by a support person will be allowed to have that person accompany them on our premises. If there is an admission or entrance fee payable as a result of the support person's attendance at Inspired Scholar or an Inspired Scholar event, notice shall be given in advance about the amount, if any, payable by the support person.
Notice of temporary disruption
In the event of a planned or unexpected disruption to services or facilities that affects accessibility, Inspired Scholar will make every reasonable effort to provide the community with notice of the disruption. The notice about any disruption of service that affects accessibility will be displayed prominently on the Inspired Scholar website, with voice messaging or any other reasonable alternative in that particular circumstance.
